8. Gates to clear
8.1 [DFM]
The tank must survive UV, overflow and a 35 kg wall load, while downspouts vary wildly. Universal fit is where tidy CAD gets mugged by real houses.
Path: Create 75 mm, 100 mm and rectangular adapter families; FEA the bracket for 2x filled load; validate on masonry, concrete and stud-wall mock-ups; run 500-cycle fill/drain, UV and leak tests with a Brazilian plastics moulder.
8.2 [Certification]
A radio-connected, wet-location product cannot freeload on a generic ESP32 listing; Brazil needs ANATEL treatment, and export adds CE/FCC work.
Path: For Brazil, use an ANATEL-approved Wi-Fi module, submit the final radio product through an ANATEL-accredited test laboratory and use an INMETRO-compliant external PSU where applicable. For EU/US releases, complete CE RED/EMC/RoHS and FCC Part 15 testing after the enclosure and antenna are frozen.
8.3 [Tooling]
A custom slim tank and multiple adapter variants can chew through the entry-price margin before the first raindrop is harvested.
Path: Pilot with rotationally moulded or stock tanks and CNC/printed adapters at 100 units; freeze the highest-volume geometry after field data; move to extrusion blow moulding and injection-moulded adapters only after a 3,000-5,000 unit committed forecast.
9. Prototype sequence
- 9.1Build 20 functional units from stock 30 L tanks, ANATEL-capable Wi-Fi modules, off-the-shelf pumps and modular downspout adapters.Proves water flow, first-flush behavior, app control and actual installation friction before expensive tank tooling.

- 9.3Revise around three adapter sizes, a serviceable filter cartridge, manual watering override and a rated external PSU.These are required changes for installation coverage, maintainability and a credible certification path.
- 9.4Run pre-compliance radio/EMC testing, ingress and UV exposure testing, plus 500 fill/drain and bracket-load cycles.Catches the expensive failures before ANATEL, CE RED and FCC submissions lock the design.
