At a $149 planning retail, the 10k BOM is about $60–84 excluding tooling, so it misses the <40% retail criterion unless BOM is reduced below about $60. Required change: target $179–199 retail or reduce the 10k BOM to $55–60 through simpler UI, shared vessels, and volume sourcing. Tooling amortised over 10k units adds roughly $18–32 per unit.

A safe induction product cannot reliably heat arbitrary microwave-safe containers, and spill ingress near mains power is unacceptable.
Path: Redefine the product as a supplied-vessel induction reheater; run EVT with 3–5 vessel geometries, then engage an induction-cooktop ODM for coil tuning, ingress testing, and DFM review before steel-cut tooling.
8.2 [Certification]
Global launch needs separate electrical safety, EMC, food-contact, and plug approvals; one universal SKU is not realistic.
Path: Build 120 V and 220–240 V regional variants. Use an NRTL for UL 1026 and FCC Part 15 in the US, a CB laboratory for IEC/EN 60335-1 and IEC/EN 60335-2-9 plus CE EMC, and an Indian BIS lab for IS 302 requirements; qualify vessel materials to FDA and EU food-contact rules.

9. Prototype sequence
